50% of the Afghan pharmaceutical market consists of smuggling amounting to $400 million

Almaty. November 20. Silkroadnews - 50% of the Afghan pharmaceutical market consists of smuggling amounting to $400 million,  reports the Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
"UN Independent Anti-Corruption Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation (MEC) said that 50% of the Afghan pharmaceutical market amounting to $800 million consists of illegally imported products", - says the agency.
Thus, international member MEC Eva Joly stated that the process of importing drugs susceptible to corruption from the registration of foreign pharmaceutical companies to laboratory quality control.
Another member of the committee, Professor Mohammad Yasin Osmani expressed concerns about the abundance of non-certified products on the pharmaceutical market of Afghanistan, stressing that "the health of the people of Afghanistan is under threat". According to him, at present there is no mechanism for the control of the pharmaceutical market.
Presenting the report, members of the MEC recommended by reforming the registration and licensing of quality and effectively manage the volume of pharmaceutical products imported in Afghanistan, and also expressed the need for technical supervision and strict quality control over the process of production and import of pharmaceuticals.
