7 year prison sentences for 2 Kazakh nationals tried for being part of “Al-Qaeda” operations in Syria
Ekibastuz. March 20. Silkroadnews – Two Kazakh nationals, residents of Ekibastuz A. Murzabayev and A. Kazbayev, who were tried for participation in “Al-Qaeda” operations in Syria were sentenced to prison for 7 years by the court.
The court has proven their participation in setting up and management of the terrorist group, public coercion to commit acts of terrorism, recruitment and armament of individuals with the purpose of terrorist and extremist activities and other activities to promote terrorism, as the judge of Ekibastuz court Alexander Goenko concluded.
Moreover, two more defendants, B. Zhakupov and B. Murzabayev, were tried for funding of the terrorist and extremist operations and promotion of terrorism. They were sentenced to prison for 3 years conditionally with 2 years on probation.
As reported earlier, the Ekibastuz residents were arrested by the intelligence officers in Kazakhstan in October 2013.
