China faced difficulties in combating air pollution
Almaty. October 6. Silkroadnews – China has faced difficulties in combating air pollution, Reuters reported.
“China faces difficulties in meeting its smog-fighting target for 2017, its environmental protection minister said during a visit to four heavily industrialized provinces in northern China, where the country’s air pollution problem is especially acute,” the report said.
It is noted that China promised to reduce the average concentration of hazardous particles in the air, known as PM2,5, by more than 15% in the coming winter months compared to a year earlier in 28 northern cities.
Minister of environmental protection Li Ganjie, during his trip earlier this week to Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and Henan, said that air quality fluctuates, in some areas improvements are very slow, while in other places there is even worsening observed.
It is reported that in the capital region, which includes Beijing, Hebei Province and Tianjin, air quality worsened in 13 cities in August compared to last year, with a 5.4% increase in PM2.5 concentrations, the recent data from the ministry says. Air quality in 338 major cities in China, on average, deteriorated in the first six months of 2017.
