China is rapidly developing market of extreme sports
Beijing. April 9. Silkroadnews - The extreme sports market in China is gaining favor in the capital and experts believe the industry will mature quickly, China Daily writes.
“A growing number of companies and governments have put a lot of effort into adding an extreme sports element to the design of characteristic towns,” the agency quoted saying by An Fuxiu, founder of Sportbank, a Beijing-based sport-related investment consultancy
These cities are those, where working to raise the local economy, the authorities develop tourism, logistics, production, technology or culture. The country plans to create 1000 such cities by 2020.
“One successful case is Wuzhizhou Island in Hainan province, which has an annual revenue of more than 1 billion yuan ($159 million). The major business there is diving. The island is also equipped with a number of extreme sports activities such as hot air ballooning,” An said.
At the same time, among the complexities that hamper the development of extreme sports in China, she said about missing infrastructure and requirement of a longer industrial chain.
