Beijing. May 21. Silkroadnews - Angela Merkel said Germany wants to strengthen multilateral relations with China, Sina.com reports.
The German Chancellor said she is looking forward to her visit to China. Merkel will visit the PRC on Thursday and Friday at the invitation of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang. This will be her first visit to China after reelection and the 11th as the chancellor of Germany.
She noted, as Germany and China have agreed on regular political dialogue and intergovernmental consultations, the talks will be held on average once a year.
Two states cooperate closely within the framework of the G20, Merkel said, adding that the forthcoming visit’s agenda will include discussion on bilateral relations, rule of law, China’s development, economy and other international affairs issues.
“We want to strengthen multilateralism. And that will play a role in our discussion”, the agency quoted her saying.
Merkel will also visit Shenzhen, an economic center in the southern province of Guangdong.
“I am glad that I’m going to Shenzhen this time as well. I have regularly visited provinces in China, not just the capital. I am again and again aware of the dynamics and the extent to which China is developing,” she said.
The German Chancellor added, she is very interested in visiting Shenzhen, where the opening of the Chinese economy has started and where many German companies operate.
