Iran’s population has grown by about 5 million people for 5 years

Amaty. March 24. Silkroadnews – Iran’s population has grown by 4.776 million people for 5 years, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports.

In particular, over the past year the country’s population has increased up to 79 926 270 people.

Since 2011 the number of families has increased by 3 million and amounted to 24 196 035.

According to the census, there are 40 498 442 men living in the country (in 2011 number of men reached 37 905 669).

Over the past 5 years the gender ratio has increased by 1% to 103.

The number of citizens living in the cities increased by 5 500 186, having reached 59 146 847 people.

Changes among the village residents are not that dramatic. Over the past 5 years, the number of rural residents has decreased by 772 383 and reached 20 730 625 people.

The recent population census was carried out via Internet, which reduced the organization costs significantly. To take part in the census, citizens visited the official site, filled out the census form and provided the copyist with their unique personal codes.

46% of the population used online services. To encourage this type of activity each participant was given 1 gigabyte of Internet for free. The first stage of the census took place from September 24 to October 21 followed by the second, during which the census takers approached those residents who did not go through the census via the Internet.
