Kyrgyz Parliament passes law on responsibility for coercion to become prostitute
Bishkek. March 27. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyz Parliament passed the law that will toughen up the punishment for coercing an individual to become a prostitute.
According to the draft law “coercing someone to become a prostitute by threateng them, blackmailing them, subjecting them to physical violence, destroying their property or tricking them is an offence punishable by either penalties of 300 000 to 500 000 kyrgyz soms (USD 10 000) or 3 to 5 years of imprisonment”
Similar offence committed within the organised crime setting is punishable by 5-8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of owned property. Cases involving minors being coerced to become prostitutes are punishable by 10 to 15 years of imprisonment.
