More than $132 million will be invested this year into in reconstruction of three hydropower plants in Tajikistan
Almaty. January 20. Silkroadnews – This year $132.4 million will be directed for the reconstruction of Kairakkum, Sarband and Nurek HPP in Tajikistan, the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) reported on Wednesday.
“In 2016 more than 1 bln somoni ($132.4 million) will be directed for the reconstruction of Kairakkum, Sarband and Nurek HPP serving Tajik people for more than 40 years”, President Rahmon said in his message to the parliament of the republic.
He reminded that during the years of independence more than 12 billion somoni ($1 billion 589 million) of foreign investments were directed to implement 32 energy projects.
And also added that until the end of the year the second phase of the Dushanbe CHPP-2, with value of 2.5 billion somoni ($331.1 million), will be put into operation to produce 300 MW of electricity and improve the electricity supply within the country.
Another construction project to start this year is a power transmission line for CASA-1000 at the Tajik site of 252km length. The project cost shall make 2.2 billion somoni ($291.3 million).
The President emphasized to achieve the energy independence more than 4 billion somoni ($529.8 million) using the budget funds and investments will be allocated in 2016 to allow providing the enterprises and population of Tajikistan with electricity and export electricity during a summer season.
