Russia and Iran plan to agree on settlements in national currencies

Almaty. June 17. Silkroadnews – Russia and Iran can reach an agreement on the settlements in national currencies soon, Trend writes.

“We have already proposed this mechanism to the Central Bank of Russia regarding the best way of using the national currencies in mutual settlements between our countries. They study and evaluate our proposal at present, then, as soon as they agree, we will definitely sign the agreement. This may happen very soon,” General Director of International Cooperation Department of the Iranian Central Bank, Hussein Yaqubi-Miyab said.

He also added, Moscow said “they looked forward to sign this agreement as soon as they study it (the proposal)”.

“This will be beneficial for both sides, as assumes the lower currency risks,” he noted.
