The Uzbek parliament established a commission to monitor the prosecutor’s office activities
Almaty. February 22. Silkroadnews - The Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan set up a commission to monitor the activities of the prosecutor’s office, UzTAG informs.
“To improve the institutional mechanisms of the parliamentary control over the prosecution activity, raise the efficiency of such operations to ensure the rule of law in the country, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, interests of society and the state, the joint resolution has been adopted by the kengash of the Senate and the Legislature to establish the Commission of the Senate of Oliy Majlis to control the prosecutor’s office activities,” - noted in the report of Parliament.
The commission is assigned to carry out the implementation of the system of parliamentary control over the activities of the prosecution authorities, the efficient delivery of tasks assigned to them by the rule of law, protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, and a number of other tasks.
According to the resolution, the committee members are elected by the Senate as a group of fifteen people, representing all the regions of the republic, among the senators on the term of office. It has been established that twice a year the Commission will report on its performance results to the Kengash of the Senate.
To remind, the need to strengthen the parliamentary control and legality of the activities of the prosecutor’s office was emphasized in the report of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the meeting dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
