This year Tajikistan plans to ramp up aluminum production to 179 thousand tonnes
Almaty. January 31. Silkroadnews – This year Tajikistan plans to ramp up aluminum production to 179 thousand tonnes, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Tuesday.
“This year Tajikistan plans to produce up to 179 thousand tonnes of aluminum versus 129.3 thousand tonnes produced in 2016 and 139.1 thousand tonnes of 2015”, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Negmatullo Hikmatullozoda said.
According to him, these are the preliminary projections, however, the output will depend on the situation in the global market, that is the price for the metal.
The head of the ministry has also noted, last year there was a trend decline in demand for aluminum throughout the world, including the CIS countries, meaning Ukraine, Armenia and Kazakhstan.
In 2016, the cost of one tonne of aluminum in the world markets reached $1.605 thousand compared to $1.654 thousand in 2015.
“Any reduction in demand results in a decline in world prices and, therefore, a decrease in production, still the forecasts are positive, though everything will depend on a demand”, minister summarized.
