Astana. September 9. Silkroadnews - According to Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Kazakh-Iranian trade turnover in 2014 amounted to $1 billion, reported KazTAG.
"This year we are completing the construction of the railway route Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Bereket and Gorgan. This route will become a connecting hub between Central Asia and the Persian Gulf. Only in the next year with the launch of a new railway route, trade between our countries can grow up to 2 billion dollars, that is, 4 times. This is not the limit. This figure should be at least doubled",- said the head of state.
The President noted that the points of contact between the two countries could be the oil and gas sector, metallurgy, agriculture, transport, logistics and tourism.
According to him, during talks with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, were raised questions on economics, politics and regional security.
Nazarbayev said that the priorities identified such areas as transit and transport, investment, industry, and others.
The Kazakh-Iranian business forum was attended by about 250 delegates, including more than 100 Kazakh and 100 Iranian companies.
The volume of the Kazakh-Iranian trade turnover by the end of 2013 fell to $ 620 million compared to $ 678 million.
During the period from 2005 to the first quarter of 2014 the gross inflow of direct investments from Iran to Kazakhstan totaled to $123.7 million, from Kazakhstan to Iran - $10.4 million.
