1 in 5 children is anaemic in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek. March 27. Silkroadnews – 1 in 5 children suffers from anaemy, as the Acting Minister of Healthcare, Dinara Saginbayeva informed at the national consultation on children’s issues in Kyrgyzstan.
“The number of young men who are denied opportunity to join the army for medical reasons is on the rise. At the same time, the number of teenage pregnancies is also on the rise with 1 000 under-aged girls giving birth every year. The abortion rate among teenagers was 2.7 per 1 000 teenage girls (aged 12 to 19) in 2012, but has risen to 5.6 per 1 000 by 2013”, she reported on observed trends.
