19 Kyrgyz policemen injured by protesters in Talas district

Bishkek. April 4. Silkroadnews – 19 policemen were injured by the protesters in Bakhai-Ata area of Talas District. 2 policemen were hospitalised, the rest of them received some outpatient care, as the MIA’s Press Office reports.
500 residents of Bakhai area in Talas District took over the Talas-Taraz highway on the 3rd of April. The protesters demanded “Shyralzhyn” goldmine to be closed. As law enforcement bodies were trying to stop the rally, policemren were hurt.
The situation in the District is now stabilised. However, the highway is closed.
Local authorities are currently negotiating with protesters.
