26 female inmates pardoned in Afghanistan to mark International Women’s Day

Kabul. March 18. Silkroadnews – Presidential decree pardoned 26 female inmates to mark the International Women’s Day.

26 female prisoners were freed, 132 others had their prison sentences reduced. This was reported by Tolo TV Channel. The Channel quoted the coordinator responsible for releasing pardoned prisoners, who works in the office of the Prosecutor General,  Aziz Ahmad Sarbaz.

“I am so happy for rejoining my family and children,” one of the released inmates Lailuma said.

“We are grateful to the president for honouring us on the eve of women’s day”, Sima Gul, another pardoned female, said.

At the same time, Mister Sarbaz expressed hope for not having any female inmates next year.
