5-fold increase in trade between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in first quarter

Dushanbe. April 16. Silkroadnews – There is 5-fold increase in trade between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan> Trade between Russia and Tajikistan increased by 75.6%, as Tajik Ministry of Economic Development and Trade reports.
“Increase in trade with Russia is linked to increase in energy imports. This country remains the biggest Tajikistan’s trade partner”, the message explains.
Overall trade between Tajikistan and CIS countries is estimated at $602.2 mln in the first quarter. This is a 30.4% increase compared to the subsequent 2013 period.
At the same time there is a significant decrease in trade with Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
Decrease in trade between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan can be explained by the closure of mutual border following the January 11 incident.
