5 terrorists held by Chinese police, nearly 2 tonnes of explosives confiscated

Urumqi. May 28. Silkroadnews – “5 members of a terrorist group were held by Chinese law enforcement bodies in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, that is located in the northwest of China. Police managed to confiscate 1.8 tonnes of explosives as a result of this special operation”, as Xinhua informs.
The Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region police has liquidated 23 terrorist and religious extremist groups earlier. It has also arrested over 200 suspects. The groups were liquidated in Khotan, Kashgar and Aksu Prefectures in the South of Xinjiang.
The anti-terrorism campaign has started in Xinjiang on the 23rd of May. It is set to continue until June 2015.
As Beijing Public Security Department informs, security in the state’s capital is to be further ensured by air forces.
5 police helicopters are monitoring the territory since last Saturday. They conduct 2-3 flights a day and have 8 specified routes. Security measures were also introduced since last Saturday as the underground transport is concerned.
As reported earlier, there were explosions at Urumqi market on the 22nd of May. Those explosions claimed 39 lives and wounded 94 people.
