7 million SIM-cards to be reregistered in Tajikistan to fight against terrorism

Almaty. October 17. Silkroadnews – To prevent terrorist groups using mobile services provided by the Tajik operators Tajikistan launches re-registration of sim-cards sold earlier, TajikTA reports.

“Since November 1, 2016, Tajikistan begins the process of re-registration of SIM-cards”, the statement said.

According to Tajikistan’s Mobile Companies Association, this process will continue until the beginning of April 2017.

The campaign is carried out to reveal inactive SIM-cards. In general, re-registration is to involve 7 million SIM-card holders.

The experts note, with this the authorities are trying to prevent Tajik terrorists using Tajik operators SIM-card in northern Afghanistan, and add, recently the number of cases when the terrorists of various groups, including drug-smugglers in northern Afghanistan, use mobile services by Tajik operators has become more widespread.
