78 projects are planned for implementation in the new free industrial zone

Almaty. October 6. Silkroadnews – Another, the fourth, free industrial zone will be created in the Urgut district of Samarkand region, UzTAG reports.

«To effectively use the resource base of the Urgut district and boost further development of its industrial and export potential and attraction of investments and advanced technologies there will be the Urgut free industrial zone created», the government report says.

In 2017 78 projects are planned to be implemented in this district to produce industrial output and for this to create about 3.4 thousand jobs.

At present there are 40 industrial enterprises operating in this district, including 19 joint ventures, where about 1.2 thousand people work in. Last year more than two dozen types of industrial products worth 157.5 billion som were produced here, and the exports exceeded $10 million. In particular, this distrcist produces carpets and rugs, synthetic fiber, electric ovens, gas stoves, disposable plastic dishes, adhesive polymer and other products using one's own raw materials.

At present there are three economic zones operating in the country: Free Industrial Economic Zone «Navoi», FIZ «Jizzakh» and FIZ «Angren».
