8 people have been killed, 11 more injured in the earthquake in Xinjiang

Almaty. May 11. Silkroadnews – Eight people have been killed, 11 more were injured after earthquake with 5.5 magnitude struck the area in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Northwest China), Xinhua news agency reported.
“The earthquake was registered on Thursday at 05:58 local time in Taxkorgan county of Kashgar district of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region”, the publication says.
Rescue workers are still searching through the earthquake area, people injured have been hospitalized.
Taxkorgan is located 1250 km from the city of Urumqi, the administrative center of the XUAR, and borders with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
