92% of the world's population breathes polluted air – WHO

Almaty. September 27. Silkroadnews - The World Health Organization (WHO) published a study saying nine out of ten people in the world live in areas with excessive air pollution. The WHO warns of «emergency» in this field.

«Air pollution continues to grow at an alarming force, affecting the state of the economy and quality of life. This is an emergency situation for public health. 92% of the world's population breathes polluted air», the WHO report says.

The organization has made a special interactive map of the world based on clean air measurements data. The content of harmful particles in the air does not meet WHO standards not only in China and India, but also in many European countries and in the European part of Russia.

This May the World Health Organization came to a disappointing conclusion on the urban air quality deterioration and, as a result, growing number of diseases. According to the organization, more than 80% of the Earth's citizens that 92% of the world’s population lives in places where air quality levels exceed the WHO limits.
