Afghan fruits export to Pakistan increased by 46%

Almaty. March 24. Silkroadnews - For the first eight months of the financial year, the turnover of fresh fruits from Afghanistan and Pakistan through Torkham overland trading port grew by 46%, AfTAG reports.

According to the port customs department, the total turnover amounted to 245 thousand tons compared to 168 thousand tons for the same period last year. In addition, the value of import of fruits from Afghanistan to Pakistan grew more than two-fold and the customs duties increased by 182%.

Within the Afghan fruits export structure grapes rank the first (162 thousand tons), followed by apples (four-fold growth -32 thousand tons) and pomegranates (11 thousand tons).

It is noted that the export of fresh fruits from Pakistan to Afghanistan on the same route has increased by 168%: from 73 thousand to 168 thousand tons.
