Afghan government to announce another truce with Taliban

Silkroadnews - The government of Afghanistan considers the possibility of another ceasefire with Taliban to be announced over Eid al-Adha holiday, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports referring to saying by the top spokesman of the Afghan presidential administration Haroon Chakansuri.
Reportedly, such a decision could be made following the results of the forthcoming governmental consultations with the people of the country.
According to Chakansuri, at present, the ceasefire issue will be considered taking into account the opinion expressed by the population of the country. He expressed confidence that the Taliban side is also interested in peace, and a new ceasefire will be supported by the international community, the Tolo television channel reported.
The Eid al-Adha follows approximately 70 days after Eid al-Fitr in the Islamic calendar. In case another truce initiative is approved, a cease-fire is expected to be announced shortly before the holiday celebrated this year on August 22.
