Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to reopen Chaman border crossing

Almaty. September 1. Silkroadnews – Afghanistan and Pakistan agreed to reopen Chaman border crossing that was closed for almost two weeks after the Afghan demonstrators burnt the Pakistani flag, AfTAG reports.

Chaman border crossing in a border town of Baluchistan is expected to be re-opened on September 1.

This is one of the two border crossing points between Afghanistan and Pakistan used by thousands of citizens of the two countries on a daily basis. The crossing is also widely used for trade between two countries.

According to the  Frontier corps representatives, the decision to reopen the border crossing was made in result of successful negotiations the two sides held on Wednesday.

The Pakistani media reports, Islamabad agreed to open the border after Afghanistan presented written apologies for the incident with the burning of the flag on August 18.
