Afghanistan and Russia discussed the railway construction

Almaty. December 6. Silkroadnews – Representatives of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Works discuss with Russian officials the possibility of railway communication between Russia and Afghanistan, AfTAG reports.

After the opening of the Atamyrat-Imamnazar-Akin railway between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan Russia has expressed interest in a similar project.

According to representatives of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce&Industries, the construction of the railways will serve to raise the volume of trade between two countries, as well as the volume of traffic and trade between Afghanistan, Russia, Central and South Asia.

“The railway construction will have a positive effect both for Afghanistan and for Russia. Afghanistan will be able to import the goods necessary from Russia in a shorter period of time with lower costs”, economic analyst Muhammad Mazari Sultanzadeh said.
