Almaty. January 12. Silkroadnews – In 2016 Afghanistan reduced imports volume by 25%, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reports.

According to Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), since the National Unity Government has come into office the tariffs for imported goods rose by an average of 7% resulting in “stagnation in the country’s business activity”, the publication says.

Growth of customs duties and tariffs led to a significant reduction in imports last year.

According to preliminary data by ACCI, for the first 9 months of the last fiscal year 70% of small and 45% medium-sized enterprises turned into decline due to the tariffs and duties raised.
