Afghanistan, India and Iran to sign agreement on Port of Chabahar

Kabul. April 3. Silkroadnews – the agreement on joint exploitation of Port of Chabahar by Iran, India and Afghanistan may come into being in the near future, as Afghanistan’s MFA reports.
This Iranian port is 700 km away from the Afghan Province of Nimruz. This is significantly closer than Pakistan’s port in Karachi, that is located 1 000 km from the Afghan border. 80% of Afghan export and import currently comes through Karachi.
It is noted, that Iranian authorities gave 250 acres of land near the port of Chabahar to Afghani businessmen. This land will be used for creating necessary infrastructure.
