Afghanistan is among the five most corrupted countries in the world

Almaty. December 3. Silkroadnews - Afghanistan ranks 172nd out of 175 in the Corruption Perceptions Index 2014, prepared by the research organization Transparency International (TI), informs Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
It is worth noting that Afghanistan left from last place, which he held in last year's ranking. From Central Asia, no country can boast low levels of corruption: Kazakhstan - divides the 126th place with Azerbaijan and Honduras, Kyrgyzstan - 136th, Tajikistan - 152nd, Uzbekistan - 166th, Turkmenistan - 169th.
Published today the Corruption Perceptions Index shows that the problem of high corruption persists in most of the countries of the former Soviet Union and the Balkans.
All former Soviet republics except the Baltic countries score less than 50 points in the ranking on a scale from 0 (extremely high level of perceived corruption) to 100 (low level of perceived corruption). Most of the Balkan countries also scored below 50 points.
Russia is located on 136th place Ukraine occupies 142th. Russia has worsened its position - in 2013 it occupied 127th place in the Index.
The leader of the index in 2014 became Denmark, gaining 92 points, while North Korea and Somalia shared last place of the index, gaining only eight points.
