Almaty. October 31. Silkroadnews – Afghanistan’s Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah met with the UN SC’s sanctions committee head Kairat Umarov, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
He called on the committee to impose sanctions on Taliban’s leaders, including the head of the extremist movement Mullah Haibatullah Akhunzada.
“Armed Taliban are ruthless killers of innocent Afghanistan people and they are responsible for the destruction of this country. They should be deemed as terrorists,” Abdullah said.
At the same time, he also criticized the position of unnamed countries trying to categorize terrorists into “good” and “bad” ones, and stressed that those supporting such categorization make a mistake.
According to the press service of the head of the Afghan government, Abdullah also suggested that the committee to expand its control over people related to terrorism to restrict their activity, movements and financial operations.
In turn, Kairat Umarov assured Afghan authorities of his department’s commitment to counter threats to security in Afghanistan and restore peace and stability in the country.
