Almaty. April 21. Silkroadnews - Afghanistan must be taken into the SCO to strengthen the fight against drug production. This was stated by Director of the Russian Federal Service for Drug Control (FSDC) Viktor Ivanov, reported TASS.
"We need as much as possible to help Afghanistan to get rid of the problem of drug planetary. In this regard, I appeal, on behalf of Ministers, to the Heads of SCO member states with the initiative to adopt Afghanistan as a full member of the SCO due to the importance of its closer integration in the economic processes of the SCO for alternative development and elimination of drug production", - he said at a meeting of the competent authorities of SCO-members who have the authority to combat drug trafficking.
The head of the Russian service also noted the coming completion of withdrawal of armed contingent of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
"Of course, the US and NATO are going to retain strategic positions, both on Afghan territory, as well as in the Central Asian region. However, their policy implies a complete abdication of responsibility for solving the problem of large-scale drug production in Afghanistan", - said V. Ivanov.
