Almaty. June 29. Silkroadnews- Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said that over the next decade Afghanistan will be one of the largest exporters of copper and iron, transmits Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
The Afghan president said that the government's priorities include the development of transport infrastructure, modern technology of irrigation and agriculture. According to him, by construction of new power plants, Afghanistan will not only satisfy its own electricity needs, but also will begin its exports to neighboring India and Pakistan. In addition, according to new research, Afghanistan can generate more than 150 megawatts of clean electricity using windmills and solar panels.
Recall, in 2007, China won the bid to develop the largest copper deposit Aynak, the possible power of $100 billion. Earlier it was planned to start production of copper in 2012, but archaeologists have discovered over the mine ruins the ancient city of Mes Aynak, where locates the 2000-year-old Buddhist city and some artifacts found there dated about 5 thousand years. In this regard, the work on the extraction of copper was suspended.
