After modernization in 2017 Bishkek’s CHP plant will have an estimated capacity of 812 MW

Almaty. August 16. Silkroadnews – In 2017 the estimated capacity of Bishkek’s CHP plant will total 812 MW, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov said, KyrTAG reports.

“Yesterday I got acquainted with progress on Bishkek CHP plant modernization works. (...) Operation of the Bishkek CHP plant using the new technical equipment is of strategic importance for our country. This investment project is one of the priorities for the industry development. Currently, the Bishkek thermal power station capacity amounts to 512 MW. After upgrading it is expected to raise by 300 MW. As soon as in 2017 its estimated capacity is to amount to 812 MW”, the prime minister said during the national headquarters’ conference call on the country’s autumn-winter period of 2016/2017 preparation on Tuesday.

As the head of the government noted, the project includes installation of two modern boilers designed for domestic coal use.

“After reconstruction the plant’s consumption of local coal will raise from the current 450 thousand tonnes up to 1.2 million tonnes in 2017. Thus, today it is time to think how to organize the plant’s uninterrupted provision with due amount of coal. Another important issue to solve is coal transportation from the deposits”, S. Jeenbekov said.

In this regard, the prime minister assigned the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Mining of the Kyrgyz Republic to: take control of the issue on coal production output raising by the coal companies to ensure uninterrupted supply of coal to the Bishkek plant; together with the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic review the terms of tender for an integrated development of coal deposits of Kara-Keche and Min-Kush along with construction of thermal power plant with capacity of about 1200 MW and Balykchy – Kochkor – Kara-Keche railway.
