Beijing. June 4. Silkroadnews - Almost 40 illegal migrants died in a shipwreck off the coast of Tunisia, TASS reports.
Rescuers found bodies of 37 illegal migrants drowned in a shipwreck in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Tunisia. 68 people have been rescued, among them 60 Tunisians and citizens of several African countries, the Ministry of the Interior of Tunisia said on Monday.
According to the police, the rescuers received information about the ship in distress on Saturday, June 2, around 23.00 local time.
The shipwreck took place 16 nautical miles from the port city of Sfax. Currently, the search and rescue work continue with the participation of military and civilian services, Tunisia Ministry of Internal Affairs informed.
