Almost a quarter of a million people evacuated due to flooding in Malaysia

Almaty. December 30. Silkroadnews - Due to the floods in Malaysia evacuated 230,338 people, reported the newspaper The Star.
"The number of flood victims in the states of Pahang, Perak and Kelantan continued to grow on Tuesday, and the number of evacuees in Terengganu decreased. In Pahang number of evacuees has increased significantly - from 35,501 on Monday night to 49 369. They were housed in 262 evacuation centers in eight districts of the state where the flooding is still ongoing",- says the publication on Tuesday.
It is noted that the number of evacuees in the state of Kelantan has also increased - from 142 564 to 142 582. It is reported that the victims were housed in 317 evacuation centers.
According to the publication, in the state of Perak, the total number of evacuees was 7735, and in Terengganu it decreased from 31 805 to 30 652. The number of victims in Johor remained unchanged - 171 people.
Heavy rains fell on a number of north-eastern regions of Malaysia in mid-December. Floods triggered by heavy rains have forced thousands of people to flee their homes. The authorities acknowledged the current flood the strongest over the past 10 years.
