Almaty. 10 September. Silkroadnews - senior officials and civil servants of the United States should be more likely to visit the countries of Central Asia and consider CA as a separate region, not only as neighbors of China and Russia. This was stated by Director of the Program on Eurasia and Central Asia at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) of US Jeffrey Mankoff, reported KazTAG.
"It would be helpful if US senior civil servants frequently visited Central Asia. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union never visited this region US President, Secretary of State visited quite rare",- said J. Mankoff at a briefing on the results of the study of CSIS on Thursday.
He noted that now the CA becomes one of the priorities in the policy of the United States, and more frequent visits by US government officials in the Asian countries could be a good support for this priority.
In addition, the expert stressed that the United States will develop cooperation with the countries of Central Asia on their own, and not in the context of their useful neighborhood.
He also said that CSIS has recommended the establishment in the Security Council of the United States responsible for the post of Eurasia.
