Apple transfers iCloud service in mainland China to a local state company

Beijing. January 16. Silkroadnews - Apple transfers iCloud service in mainland China to a local state-owned company, a specialized Internet portal Zdnet.com.
“US technology giant Apple confirmed last week that iCloud services in mainland China will soon be operated by a Chinese company in a move to comply with the cybersecurity law enacted in June last year,” the report said.
Guizhou-Cloud Big Data Industry Development, owned by the provincial government of Guizhou in the south of China, will be responsible for iCloud operations in mainland China as of February 28, 2018.
On January 10 Apple began to notify its iCloud users from China about the transfer of services. There will be no changed in records in iCloud accounts registered outside of mainland China.
According to Apple, data storage at the local level will also improve the speed and reliability of iCloud products. The information synchronized through iCloud includes photos, videos, documents and applications.
Apple will become one of the first American companies to comply with the Chinese law. Other U.S. companies doing business in China, including Amazon, Microsoft and IBM, have also entered into similar agreements with local companies to support their operations in China.
