Arcelor Mittal to cut its staff by 1 000 people by end of year
Karaganda. May 5. Silkroadnews – “Arcelor Mittal Temirtau” plans to cut its staff by almost 1 000 people by the end of this year, as their HR and Labour Relations Director, Dmitriy Pavlov, informs.
“14 318 people are now working in our steel department. This includes 2456 full-time employees. The share of full-time employees is 17.2%. We are planning to make almost 1 000 people redundant by the end of the year. This move will mostly concern our full-time employees”, Mister Pavllov said at the Press Conference in Temirtau.
Steelworkers Labour Union intends to approve every candidate for redundancy case by case.
JSC “Arcelor Mittal Temirtau” is a subsidiary of “Arcelor Mittal” MNC. It is the biggest mining and metallurgical company in Kazakhstan. Their Kazakhstan assets include Metallurgical Plant in Temirtau, 8 coal mines in Karagandy Province, as well as 4 iron mines in Karagandy, Akmola and Kostanay Provinces.
