Ashraf Ghani called on Afghans to eliminate violence against women

Almaty. November 24. Silkroadnews – Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Abdullah Abdullah took part in the meeting dedicated to elimination of violence against women, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reports.

Ashraf Ghani admitted the problem remains quite serious for the country, despite the fact that women are considered to be full-fledged citizens of the country on a par with men.

“Combating violence against women is the duty of all people”, head of the state said, urging people to eliminate various forms of violence.

In his turn, the prime minister stressed that violence against women requires a counteraction at the national level.

Earlier Dilbar Nazari, Minister of Women’s Affairs, expressed the hope that to approach the solution to the problem it would be good to invite women to take part in the Ulema Councils (theologians) of the country.
