Atlas of the flora and fauna of the Central Tian Shan has been presented in Bishkek

Almaty. June 3. Silkroadnews – The atlas of flora and fauna of the Central Tien Shan protected natural areas has been presented at the special event dedicated to the World Environment Day in Bishkek, KyrTAG reports.

“This is the first illustrated edition of such kind. The book is dealing with the flora and fauna of the Sarychat-Eerashskiy national nature reserve, national nature park “Khan-Tengri” and adjacent areas of Sary-Jaz river basin. The atlas includes color photographs and essays on 150 species of higher plants from 5 classes and 151 species of animals of 11 classes,” the publication says.

As noted, each essay contains a brief description and information on inhabitation and life peculiarities. Atlas is addressed to naturalists, botanists, zoologists, ecologists, students, local historians and specialists in the environmental protection.

“So far the atlas has been printed in a limited edition. We have already distributed 150 copies available among the participants and guests of the event. We are not talking about the mass production and sale of atlas,” Salaydin Kamaldinov, press-secretary of the state agency of environmental protection and forestry under the government of Kyrgyzstan, said.

To remind World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5.
