Attacks on the parliament and Khomeini’s mausoleum left victims in Iran

Almaty. June 7. Silkroadnews – Armed people opened fire in the Iranian parliament building and Ayatollah Khomeini’s mausoleum in the capital of Tehran, BBC Russian department reports.
Shooting left two people killed, including a security guard of the parliament building, and at least three people injured.
Information about the attackers is contradictory. According to some eyewitnesses, the parliament was attacked by three people – one armed with a pistol, two – with Kalashnikov assault rifles. Meanwhile, one of the deputies told local media there were four assailants.
Around the same time another armed group broke into the mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini in the south of Tehran, about 20km from the parliament building.
As the head of Ali Khalili mausoleum’s press service reported, one of the attackers opened fire and activated the suicide bomb. The number of victims the attack on the mausoleum resulted in is specified. Five people injured were reported by ILNA agency.
Two attacks left 7 people killed and several hostages captured in the parliament building. A sound of explosion was heard in the area of the fourth or fifth floor of the building.
According to the updated information, there were three men and one woman among the attackers on the Khomeini mausoleum. One of them activated the suicide belt, the other – without explosives – committed suicide. One of the attackers escaped.
Twin attack on parliament and the mausoleum is the first case of an attack in Iran involving suicide bombers. The Islamic State terrorist grouping has assumed responsibility for the attacks.
