Azerbaijan invited Iran to use railway corridor "North-South" to transport goods to the Black Sea

Almaty. December 22. Silkroadnews - Azerbaijan invited Iran to use the rail corridor "North-South" to transport goods to the Black Sea in the ongoing Tehran meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic, trade and cultural cooperation, reports Trend.
Iran has offered to use railway transport corridor "North-South" and the transport infrastructure in Azerbaijan to transport Iranian cargo in Russia, as well as to the west - to the Black Sea - through the territory of Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Railroad "North-South" will connect Northern Europe to South-East Asia. It will serve as a bridge to connect the railways of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia.
This project involves the construction of border railway bridge between Iranian and Azerbaijani Astara, as well as branches of 8 km in the territory of Azerbaijan.
According to preliminary estimates, the capacity of the railway will be 1.4 million passengers and 5 to 7 million tons of cargo a year. Throughout the railway will be constructed 22 tunnels and 15 bridges.
In the first step along the corridor "North-South" is planned to transport 6 million tons of cargo a year.
