Azerbaijan plans to simplify customs procedures with Kazakhstan and Turkey

Almaty. February 16. Silkroadnews - In 2016 the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan is going to sign with Turkey and Kazakhstan agreement on exchange of preliminary information on the goods and vehicles moved between the two countries, Trend reports.  
“As a part of IT-technologies development strategy for the customs area, we have identified three priority areas. Improving the relations between the State Customs Committee and the customs services of other countries is among them. At present, the agreement on exchange of preliminary information on the goods and vehicles transferred from other countries to Azerbaijan and vice versa has been signed with Uzbekistan, Georgia and Russia, as well as with Ukraine and Moldova within the framework of GUAM. Now we are working over the similar project with Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries,” - said the head of the central office for estimation of efficiency and development programs of the State Customs Committee Iqbal Babayev.
He added the preliminary information introduction will speed up the process for the goods to pass across the border, and also allow to apply the risk management to reveal the risks proactively and minimize the risks for counterfeit goods.
Two other priority directions for the information technologies development in the customs sector, according to I. Babayev, are to improve the partnership “business-customs” and “customs-state”.  
“We introduce the informatization of our services to eliminate the direct contacts between the businesses and customs officials. Our primary goal is to allow any entrepreneur and individual to solve their issues the customs authorities staying in the comfort of their office or home,”- he said and added at present the work is carried out on the electronic declaration introduction.
As for the relationship between the customs and other government agencies, I. Babayev noted that almost all the communications in this regards are exchanged in the electronic form.
