Azerbaijan will build a sea-based power plant of 200 MW in the area of oil production

Almaty. April 16. Silkroadnews - Azerbaijan is preparing to build the world's first sea-based wind farm in the area of ​​oil production, reports Trend.
"The plant will be built near the island Pirallahi. Moreover, according to the project, it is expected the construction of the road between the islands Chilov and Pirallahi,"- said the head of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources Akim Badalov.
According to him, the wind farm will be built in the Caspian Sea on trestles.
He noted that a working group is coordinating the work.
As noted A.Badalov, construction of flyovers will be implemented with the help of the company SOCAR. The power station will have capacity of 200 MW.
According to him, the world did not have the practice of construction of the station on the platforms in the area of ​​oil production.
"They are currently completing a feasibility study for the project, which will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. The project is estimated at 450-500 million manat. Payback period - about 10 years",- said A.Badalov.
The project consists of three stages. So, the first phase includes the construction of the station, the second - the construction of the road. In the third stage will be established distribution network.
"Usually, in the world, such projects are estimated at $900 million - $1 billion. However, due to the use of wind energy, we can halve the cost of the project",- said the head of the state agency.
According to him, the funds will be drawn at the expense of export credits. Full development of the project will be completed in the 2017-2018 biennium.
