Almaty. August 11. Silkroadnews – The length of urban rail lines in operation in Beijing will reach 608.20 kilometers by the end of this year, Beijing Daily reported reports.
“The length of urban rail lines in operation in Beijing will reach 608.20 kilometers by the end of this year. At present, 20 construction projects to build more than 350 km of track are under way”, the report said.
With this it is also noted that two more projects will be launched this year for the construction of another 12.60 km of lines.
The publication says that Beijing’s urban railway network, including the subway and light rail, is expected to exceed 1500 km by 2020.
Currently China accounts for 80% of the global railway construction, scheduled for the next five years. At the same time, Beijing boasts the largest number of passenger lines under construction and the highest daily passenger traffic.
According to publication, the report “Development of China’s Transport”, issued by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in December, provides for a 3,000-km increase in railway lines, which confirms the need for the construction of new urban railway lines in the next five years.
