Beijing plans "to destroy" 300 polluting enterprises by the end of the year

"In the second half of the year the Dongcheng and Xicheng Districts, located in the heart of the capital, will completely refuse from the use of coal. Six areas of the central part of Beijing will no longer use coal-fired boilers for heating. The total annual coal consumption should not exceed 15 million tons", - said the publication with reference to the head of the department of coordination of complex air pollution control management Li Lixin.
In addition, by the end of this year, Beijing plans to "destroy" another 300 polluting enterprises, reduce production capacity of cement plants up to 5 million tonnes, to decommission 200 thousand old vehicles, she said.
L.Lixin also mentioned the joint efforts of the authorities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province to combat air pollution. In particular, it is about creating mechanisms for monitoring and warning of serious pollution emergency response to pollution and joint identification of offenses in this area.
