Belarus bought 80 thousand tonnes of oil from Iran

Almaty. February 17. Silkroadnews – Belarusian company Bel Oil has bought 80 thousand tonnes of crude oil from National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), IrTAG reported.
“It is the first time, when Minsk buys oil from Tehran. Belarus is interested in alternative to reduce its energy dependence on Russia, which has become particularly evident in the second half of 2016 with decrease in Russian oil exports”, the statement said.
According to publication, the Belarusian debt for gas amounted to $550 million at the end of January.
Recently Russia and Belarus have agreed on the text for the protocol on oil and gas supplies to be reported to both states’ leaders and declared next week.
