Belarus looks for fruitful cooperation with Kazakhstan within the SCO
Almaty. March 28. Silkroadnews - Belarus looks for fruitful cooperation with Kazakhstan within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BelTA reports.
“Due to upgrading in 2015 Belarus’ status to an observer in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, the Belarusian side expressed hope for fruitful cooperation in these organizations,” the publication says.
As noted, this point was discussed during the meeting between the ambassador of Belarus to Kazakhstan Anatoly Nichkasov with the newly appointed deputy minister of foreign affairs of Kazakhstan Galymzhan Koishybayev.
The sides have discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for expansion of cooperation in several areas. Particular emphasis was placed on the necessity to update the legal framework of bilateral cooperation. Thus, the parties have agreed to develop a new “road map” for bilateral trade and economic cooperation for 2017-2018, as well as to boost the preparation for signing the five bilateral interstate agreements under negotiation. The meeting participants noted the importance of holding the regular meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Kazakhstan commission on trade and economic cooperation to be held later this spring 2016 in Belarus.
To enhance cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries during the meeting the Kazakhstani side was submitted a draft plan of consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Kazakhstan for 2016-2017. The two sides exchanged opinions on ways to improve the efficiency of the CIS structures performance.
