By 2018 Uzbekistan will be able to implement food safety of CU standards

Tashkent. August 28. Silkroadnews - Enterprises of food industry and agribusiness of Uzbekistan within 3 years will be able to introduce a special system of food safety (HACCP - Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) to increase its exports to the countries of the Customs Union (CU), reported KazTAG citing Programme Manager of International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Uzbekistan on the implementation of HACCP, Olga Sherbina.
IFC's program, which was launched in Uzbekistan on Wednesday, designed for 3 years. In addition to general training activities, IFC will offer a range of services to enterprises of Uzbekistan to improve food safety management systems.
"If Uzbek enterprises want to export to Europe, Russia or Kazakhstan, they must implement and maintain these standards," - said O. Sherbina.
According to her, the current compliance with the principles of HACCP is mandatory in the EU countries, as well as in the CU.
In CU countries since July 1, 2013 entered into force 7 technical regulations in the field of food safety, which include the development and implementation of the principles in the production system HACCP, providing control at all stages of food production, at any point in the process of production, storage and distribution, which can cause dangerous situations.
The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in 2013 increased by 9.4% compared with 2012 - up to $28.8 billion. The share of Russia amounted to 27.5% of total trade turnover from Uzbekistan, from Kazakhstan - 10.5%.
