China and ASEAN agreed on joint anti-corruption cooperation

Almaty. November 4. Silkroadnews - Joint anti-corruption combating seminar of China and ASEAN was held in Yunnan Province (Southwest China), China Radio International informs.

Chinese participants drew attention to mass anti-corruption campaign carried out in the country since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012 and expressed an opinion that the formation of more transparent political environment will contribute to sustainable and healthy development of the national economy.

China and ASEAN countries, according to the participants, face the same development challenges. The neighbors also have a similar anti-corruption situation that implies the need for the joint efforts to combat corruption especially in the cross-border sector.

The participants have proposed to expand the common ground on the joint anti-corruption issue, search for additional ways of anti-corruption cooperation in the region and work together to ensure the international anti-corruption agenda takes into account the requirements of developing countries.

It was also decided to consider creation of a common regional format of anti-corruption cooperation, boost efforts to build the capacity of anti-corruption potential with the search for solutions of the parties’ common problems, such as commercial bribery, flight of corrupt officials and illegal export of financial resources abroad.
