China and ASEAN countries have approved the guidelines for maritime emergencies
Almaty. September 7. Silkroadnews – China and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) adopted guidelines hotline to be used by the countries' senior diplomats for maritime emergencies, TASS reported.
The sides have also issued a joint statement on the 2014 agreement coming into force to reduce the tensions in the South China Sea.
The ASEAN Summit held in Vientiane on September 6-8 became the first summit of the regional block after the ASEAN Community establishment announcement on December 31, 2015.
The ASEAN unites Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
